AUGUST 5, 2011

MINUTES
                                                
        

1.      Call to Order – The meeting was called to order at 2:05 pm.   

A.      Roll Call - PRESENT: Debra Gaudette, Chairperson, C. Edwin Carlson, Priscilla Lancaster, Marie Fredrickson, Mary Ann Lee
                        
ABSENT: Edmond LaLiberte, Fran Rago

Also in attendance: Lillian Miceli and Michelle Pantaleo, Senior Service Reps.

Approval of Minutes – Mary Ann Lee made a motion to accept the July minutes seconded by Ed Carlson.

2.      Old Business
 
        A.      Silver Annual Picnic -
        •       Lillian reported that ads were placed in the Journal Inquirer, Hartford Courant and the East Hartford Gazette.  Tickets were distributed to Pat Lancaster, Mary Ann
                Lee and Debbie Gaudette.  Invitation will be going out soon. Debbie requested that Channel 5 also receive an invitation in order for the event to be filmed.
        •       Marie submitted a draft of the program to the Commission. She requested that Commission review the draft and submit any changes.  Lillian will have the
                programs made up. Tickets for water/soda will be attached to the programs for distribution.
        •       Mary Ann Lee reported that Judge and Reggie Baral of Circle of Life will be presenting “25 years of Music” performance at the picnic.
        •       Bills
                -A motion was made by Mary Ann Lee that a check be issued to “iParty” in the sum of $300 for decorations, seconded by Pat Lancaster.
                -A motion was made by Mary Ann Lee for the allocation of $400 gift certificates to be purchased from ShopRite of East Hartford, seconded by Ed Carlson.
                -A motion was made by Pat Lancaster seconded by Marie Fredrickson that a check be issued to Staples in the sum of $46.98 for tickets.

        B.  Miscellaneous – pending issue – purchase of new card table.

3.      New Business

        A.      Senior Center Tours – Mary Ann Lee and Pat Lancaster attended the Mayor’s Senior Center Committee Tour of nearby Senior Centers and gave their impressions:
                -Glastonbury – grounds were nice and their coffee shop/library.
                -Enfield – 44% of their income was due to fundraising and their picnics are supported by the Police and Fire Depts.
                -Plainville – liked the heated walkway and ramp.


Adjournment – Marie Fredrickson made motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Mary Ann Lee.  Meeting adjourned at 2:55 pm.
